In this day and age, it is widely believed that companies have a social obligation to give back to the communities in which they prosper. At Centrum, we not only realize this obligation, but aim to fulfill it as completely as possible.
For the 2007 Holiday Season, Centrum has taken a number of steps to give back:
In late October, Centrum kicked off it’s Autumn Harvest Food Drive, benefiting The Greater Chicago Food Depository. The Food Depository distributes food through a network of 600 food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. It serves nearly half a million men, women, and children each year.
Centrum’s staff was glad for the chance to help feed those in need, and managed to give more than 350 lbs of food and over 500 dollars to benefit the depository.
During the month of December, Centrum held a toy and gift drive, benefiting The Illinois Department of Child and Family Services. DCFS provides extensive child well-fare services; including child protection, guardianship/advocacy, and child placement.
As a result of this drive, Centrum was able to give more than 100 toys, books, housewares and items of clothing to children and families in need.
Finally, in lieu of corporate gifts, Centrum chose to give an excess of 10,000 dollars to Oxfam and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Oxfam consists of 13 organizations working together with over 3,000 partners to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice. It aims to create a more equitable world.
The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. It’s mission is to eliminate the disease through research and enhance care and support for those affected.
Centrum is proud to have made–at least–a dent in some of our world’s most critical issues this holiday season. We are looking forward to expanding our philanthropic initiatives into other important avenues in the future.
