Fairbanks General Contractor Linn-Mathes Making Great Strides

Peering from below the Fairbanks at CityFront Plaza, one sees dozens of tiny yellow hats scurrying about and industrial elevators continually scaling the building’s side. The bustle of construction has been steady since Centrum broke ground in 2005. Thanks to diligent work from Linn-Mathes, general contractor for The Fairbanks, the building remains on schedule for it’s spring completion.
Linn-Mathes has helped Centrum to bring various residential property designs to fruition. Among them is the adaptive reuse of the Montgomery-Ward building, fondly named The Montgomery. Linn Mathes also completed Domain in 2002, a 292-unit loft project in the River North neighborhood. Both projects have proved very successful for Centrum.
In an interview, Centrum’s Director of Construction, Paul Ozaki, explains Centrum’s relationship with Linn-Mathes:
“Centrum has developed a strong relationship over the years with Linn-Mathes, having worked with them on many previous projects. We utilize a “partnering” approach with Linn-Mathes, where we work with the general contractor as a team. This approach promotes cooperation, trust and collaboration in contrast to the adversarial relationship more commonly experienced between owners and contractors.”
On of the benefits of the long relationship is ….
“Issues are openly discussed and resolved effectively for the betterment of the project in lieu of blaming other team members for deficiencies in contract documents or communication. Linn-Mathes also practices the same approach with their subcontractors and material suppliers resulting in a very effective and strong project team who work together to resolve issues and insure that the building is constructed properly and to the highest standards of quality.”
At Centrum, we fully expect to continue our trusted relationship with Linn-Mathes and are excited to work with them on future projects.
