As mentioned in a previous post, perpetuating “green” practice in the office is among Centrum’s top priorities.
As a real estate developer, we acknowledge the land as the lifeblood of our company. Given our continued success in cultivating it into aesthetically innovative commercial and residential properties, we feel a particular obligation to “give back.”
That said, I give you Centrum’s green stats for March 2008 (Chicago offices):
Trees Saved: 38
Water Conserved: 15,747 gallons
Unreleased Pollutants: 135 pounds

Dock Hands Needed at River North Marina

The River North Marina is currently seeking Summer Dock Hands to provide yacht club members with general watercraft assistance, shipstore customer service, safety oversight, facility upkeep, and dock maintenance. Full and Part-time positions are available.
Marina Season: May 13 - October 13.
$11/hour.
Applicants should be extremely responsible, punctual, and able to work independently. Dock and boating experience are A MUST. Rope skills and lifesaving training is a plus.

CityFront Plaza Named Best Overall Urban Development

Dubbed the “Academy Awards” of the local building industry, The Home Builder’s Association of Greater Chicago recognizes excellence in design and innovation during their annual key awards. I’m proud to report that The CityFront Plaza has been recognized by the association with a key award for “Best Overall Urban Development.”
CityFront Plaza is a three-tower, luxury condominium, development located half a block east of Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile. Designed in the international style by DeStefano & Partners, approximately 1,000 luxury homes are being developed in three phases on a full city block.
The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago represents more than 2,000 members involved in home building, remodeling, design, housing finance, building product manufacturing and other segments of residential construction.

Roosevelt Sales Center Wins Sammy Award

I’m thrilled to announce that The Roosevelt Collection sales center has been presented with a 2007 Sammy Award. The award is the brain-child of the Sales and Marketing Council of The Home Builder’s Association of Greater Chicago.
It recognizes outstanding innovation in design.

Centrum acquires North American aftermarket facilities of Visteon

Nashville, TN., Feb. 4, 2008 — Centrum Equities XV, LLC, an affiliate of Centrum Properties, Inc., has acquired the non-core North American-based aftermarket under-hood and remanufacturing facilities of Visteon Corporation. (NYSE: VC) The operations include a manufacturing plant in Sparta, Tennessee, and two plants in Reynosa, Mexico.
Specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition does not include aftermarket mobile electronics products, which Visteon maintains as part of its electronics group.
“We are pleased to be acquiring this business as part of our growth strategy,” said Terry Howard, Chief Operating Officer of Centrum Equities XV, LLC. Arthur Slaven, co-founder of Centrum Properties, added: “We are excited about this investment and look forward to future growth opportunities across the automotive aftermarket.”
Visteon’s Sparta, Tennessee facility (known as LTD Parts) manufactures starters and alternators for aftermarket customers. The two Reynosa, Mexico facilities manufacture aftermarket climate products ─ including radiators, compressors and condensers ─ and also remanufacture steering pumps and gears.
“This transaction is another step in our plan to restructure, improve and grow our business by focusing on strategic product lines, including advanced climate, interiors and electronics products,” said Donald J. Stebbins, Visteon President and Chief Operating Officer.
