The loft interiors at Roosevelt Collection are “an unfolding of experiences that entice and intrigue buyers“, said Anna Simone, a partner in Cecconi Simone, the Toronto-based firm that designed the interior architecture at the Centrum Properties’ development.

Centrum asked Cecconi Simone—a specialist in designing residential and commercial interior architecture—to create internal loft spaces that intuitively dovetail with the lifestyles of urban, hip and living frenetic personal and professional lives in a world-class downtown environment.

Because Centrum fully appreciates the value of the interior space to the lives of the urbane, both the exterior and interior professionals were onboard from the beginning.

The interior architecture at The Roosevelt Collection is made distinct by the following design elements:

• Strategically placed built-in furniture, including a built-in, fold-away dining-area table that is nestled in the kitchen island.

• A stainless-steel alcove or niche sculpted into the wall to create space for an urban fireplace illuminated by candles instead of logs, gas or electricity.

• Translucent sliding glass doors that maintain privacy, yet bring light from one part of the space to the next;

• Bedrooms zoned at opposite ends of the residence so that they are spaced far apart for privacy;

• Bath innovations include trough sinks and rain shower heads, designed for soothing, sensual relaxation;

The prospective target audience—urban professional loft buyers—were constantly in mind when planning the space. “It was as if the buyers were there, walking us through every step and communicating what was important to them,” Simone said. “We certainly tried to incorporate that with the architectural elements that we introduced, from the urban fireplace, to the wonderful trough sink, and the transparent materials that introduce one room to the next,” she said.

The first residential phase of the project consists of 342 loft-style condominiums planned above retail shops located at 150 W. Roosevelt Road. Later phases will feature a 43-story high-rise condominium tower planned for 294 units.
